Minister of Justice: 90% of residential buildings are not registered in the real estate registry
Counselor Omar Marawan, Minister of Justice, said that a large number of citizens were complaining about real estate registration services, as the registration tax was linked to the real estate tax.
Counselor Omar Marawan added, during a telephone interview on the “On My Responsibility” program broadcast on Sada Al-Balad channel, presented by the journalist Ahmed Moussa, that the amendments to the provisions of the Real Estate Registration Law aim to facilitate the procedures for the real estate registration, and that the amendments reduce the time period that used to take a long time.
Counselor Omar Marawan pointed out that if the registration applicant has a valid document along with 5 years of possession and good faith, the ownership will be transferred, and indicated that there is a final ruling on ownership or seizure of possession for a period of more than 15 years with the intention of ownership with the realization of the real estate month, and it was also established A time limit for the procedures before the real estate registry, and all the obstacles that caused the reluctance of citizens to register were overcome.
He revealed that the seller is legally obligated to pay the tax fee, and that more than 90% of the properties are without registration.
